Chat Overview

CrystalQore's Chat module provides real-time instant messaging for your team. Communicate instantly with colleagues, share files, express yourself with emoji and GIFs, and escalate to voice or video calls—all from a single interface.

Community

Chat is available on the Community tier and above, so all CrystalQore deployments have access to instant messaging.

Key Features

Direct Messages (1:1)

Start a private conversation with any team member. Messages are delivered in real time with sent, delivered, and read indicators.

Group Chats

Create groups to collaborate with multiple people. Add or remove members, manage group settings, and start group voice or video calls.

File Attachments

Share images, documents, videos, and audio files. Drag-and-drop or use the paperclip icon to attach files directly in the conversation.

Emoji and GIF Support

Add personality to your messages with the emoji picker (smiley face icon) and GIF search (powered by Tenor). File size limits apply to attachments.

Read Receipts

Know when your message was delivered and when the recipient read it. Indicators show sent, delivered, and read status.

Typing Indicators

See when the other person is typing. Typing indicators appear in real time so you know they're composing a response.

Audio and Video Calls

Start an audio call (phone icon) or video call (camera icon) from any 1:1 or group chat. WebRTC-based—works right in your browser without extra software.

Search across all your conversations to find specific messages quickly.

Mute and Clear

Mute notifications for conversations you want to follow without alerts. Clear chat history or delete conversations when needed.

Getting Started

Start a direct message — Click Chat in the sidebar or press Ctrl+N, then click the compose button (pencil icon) and select a team member.

Send a message — Type in the input field and press Enter to send. Use the paperclip to attach files, the smiley for emoji, and the GIF button for animated images.

Escalate to a call — Click the phone icon for audio or the camera icon for video in the chat header to start a call.
