Make and receive audio and video calls directly in your browser. No software installation required—start from Chat or Contacts.

WebRTC Browser Calls

WebRTC browser calls let you make and receive audio and video calls directly in CrystalQore—no separate app or software needed. Start a call from a chat thread or a contact, and the call runs entirely in your browser using your microphone and camera.

Getting Started

Starting a Call from Chat

  1. Open a chat with the person you want to call
  2. Click the phone icon (audio) or video icon (video call)
  3. The call initiates—the other person receives an incoming call notification
  4. When they answer, you're connected

Starting a Call from Contacts

  1. Go to Contacts
  2. Locate the person you want to call
  3. Click the phone or video icon next to their name
  4. The call starts—they receive the incoming call

Call Controls

During a call, use the on-screen controls:

ControlAction
Mute micToggle your microphone on or off
Toggle cameraTurn your video on or off (video calls)
End callHang up and disconnect

Controls appear at the bottom of the call window. Hover to see tooltips if labels are hidden.

Group Calls

WebRTC supports group calls with multiple participants:

  • Start a group call — Add multiple people from chat or create a group call from the call interface
  • Participant list — See who is in the call; mute or remove participants (if you have host rights)
  • Layout — Video tiles adjust based on number of participants (grid, speaker view, etc.)

Requirements

Browser Permissions

CrystalQore needs microphone and camera (for video) access:

  1. When you start your first call, the browser prompts for permission
  2. Click Allow to grant access
  3. If you previously blocked access, use your browser's site settings to enable microphone and camera for CrystalQore

Supported Browsers

WebRTC works in modern browsers:

  • Chrome / Edge — Full support
  • Firefox — Full support
  • Safari — Supported (may require recent version)

Older browsers or strict privacy extensions can block WebRTC. If calls fail, try a different browser or disable blocking extensions.

Call Quality

For best quality:

  • Use a stable internet connection (wired preferred for reliability)
  • Close bandwidth-heavy applications
  • Use a headset or headphones to reduce echo
  • Ensure adequate lighting for video calls

Ending a Call

Click End call or close the call window to hang up. The call appears in your Call Records under the Web Calls tab.
