CrystalQore

Desktop Notifications

Enable browser notifications, configure sounds and popups, per-type controls (calls, chat, calendar, presence), and privacy options.

Desktop Notifications

Desktop notifications allow CrystalQore to alert you even when the app is in the background—via browser (or OS) popups and optional sounds. Configure them in Settings > Notifications.

Enabling Desktop Notifications

Step 1: Enable in CrystalQore

  1. Go to Settings (avatar menu or sidebar)
  2. Open the Notifications tab
  3. Turn Desktop notifications on

Step 2: Grant Browser Permission

When you enable desktop notifications, your browser will prompt for permission:

  1. Click Allow (or Grant) when the browser asks
  2. If you accidentally click Block, you'll need to change it in your browser's site settings

Each browser handles permissions differently. In Chrome, click the lock icon in the address bar > Site settings > Notifications. In Firefox, click the padlock > Clear cookies and site data (or use about:preferences#privacy to manage exceptions).

Configuration Options

Notification Sounds

  • Sounds on/off — Play sounds for incoming calls, new messages, and other events
  • Turn off if you prefer silent alerts (e.g., in a quiet office)

Desktop Popups

  • Desktop popups on/off — Show system notifications (browser/OS toasts) when CrystalQore is in the background
  • When on, you'll see a small popup with the notification content
  • When off, you'll only see in-app notifications when the app is focused

Per-Type Controls

Configure notifications for each category:

TypeWhat It Controls
CallsIncoming calls, missed calls
ChatNew messages, mentions
CalendarMeeting reminders, schedule updates, invites
PresenceStatus changes (e.g., someone comes online)

Enable or disable each type independently. For example, you might turn off presence notifications but keep call and chat alerts.

Privacy: Hide Notification Content

When Hide notification content is enabled:

  • Notifications still appear (badge, popup)
  • The preview text (message body, caller name) is hidden
  • Useful when your screen is visible to others—you're notified without revealing sensitive information

This option is in Settings > Notifications (sometimes under Privacy). Enabling it affects both desktop popups and in-app previews.

Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Desktop Popups

  • Check browser permission — Ensure CrystalQore is allowed to show notifications
  • Check OS settings — Some systems have a master "Do Not Disturb" or focus mode
  • Check per-type settings — Ensure the relevant type (Calls, Chat, etc.) is enabled

Sounds Not Playing

  • System volume — Ensure your system and browser aren't muted
  • Sounds setting — Verify "Sounds" is on in Settings > Notifications
  • Browser autoplay — Some browsers block sounds until you interact with the page

Too Many Notifications

  • Disable per-type — Turn off types you don't need (e.g., Presence)
  • Use Do Not Disturb — Set your status to DND when you need to focus
  • Reduce calendar reminders — Adjust or remove reminders on individual events
