Folders & Inbox

Navigate email folders, browse your inbox, search messages, filter by unread, and manage messages across accounts.

Folders & Inbox

The email interface organizes your messages into folders. Each connected account has its own folder tree, and you can switch between accounts, browse folders, search, and filter to find any message quickly.

Folder List

The left panel shows your folders with unread counts. Standard folders include:

FolderIconDescription
InboxEnvelopeIncoming messages
SentSend arrowMessages you've sent
DraftsFileSaved draft messages
TrashTrash canDeleted messages
SpamShieldMessages flagged as spam
StarredStarMessages you've starred or flagged
ArchiveArchive boxArchived messages

Click any folder to load its messages in the center panel. The unread count badge shows how many unread messages are in each folder.

Folder names and structure come from your email provider. Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP servers may use slightly different folder names (e.g., Gmail uses "Labels" internally, but they appear as folders in CrystalQore).

Switching Accounts

If you have multiple email accounts connected, use the account selector at the top of the folder panel. Click the dropdown or account name to switch. Each account loads its own folder structure and messages.

Message List

The center panel shows messages in the selected folder:

  • Sender (or recipient for Sent folder) with avatar
  • Subject line
  • Message snippet — First few lines of the body
  • Date/time — When the message was sent or received
  • Unread indicator — Bold text and a dot for unread messages
  • Attachment icon — Paperclip icon if the message has attachments

Messages are loaded with infinite scroll — as you scroll down, older messages load automatically (50 messages per page).

Click any message to open it in the right panel.

Searching Messages

Use the search bar at the top of the message list to find messages:

  1. Click the search input or press the search shortcut
  2. Type your query — CrystalQore searches subjects, senders, and body text
  3. Results appear in the message list, replacing the current folder view
  4. Clear the search to return to the folder view

Search queries are sent to your email provider's search API, so results include all messages in the account (not just the current folder).

Filtering by Unread

Toggle the Unread filter above the message list to show only unread messages. This works within the current folder — for example, Inbox filtered to Unread shows only unread inbox messages.

Reading a Message

Click a message in the list to open it in the viewer panel:

  • Full HTML body rendered with sanitized content (scripts and unsafe elements are removed)
  • Sender name, email, and timestamp in the header
  • Recipient list (To, Cc)
  • Attachments listed with download buttons
  • Action buttons: Reply, Reply All, Forward, Archive, Delete, Move

Downloading Attachments

Click the download icon next to any attachment to save it to your device. Attachments are fetched from your email provider on demand.

Mark as Read

Messages are automatically marked as read when you select them in the viewer. You can also manually toggle read/unread status from the message actions.

Empty States

  • No accounts — If no email accounts are connected, you'll see a prompt to add an account
  • No messages — If a folder is empty, you'll see an empty state message
