Media & MMS

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) extends SMS by letting you send images, videos, PDFs, and other files alongside your text messages. CrystalQore supports MMS in conversations, bulk sends, and template-based messages.

File Size Limit

Each attachment is limited to 5 MB. Files exceeding this limit are rejected at upload time.

Carrier networks may further compress or reject MMS attachments depending on the recipient's carrier and device. For best results, keep images under 1 MB and videos under 3 MB.

Uploading Media

In a Conversation

  1. Open an SMS conversation
  2. Click the attachment icon (paperclip) in the message composer
  3. Select one or more files from your device
  4. Files are uploaded and shown as thumbnails in the compose area
  5. Add message text (optional) and click Send

In Bulk SMS

  1. Open the Bulk SMS dialog
  2. After composing your message, click the attachment button
  3. Select files — the same media is sent to all recipients

In Templates

When creating or editing an SMS template:

  1. Switch the template type to MMS
  2. Use the media upload area to attach files
  3. Media URLs are stored with the template and sent each time the template is used

Delivery Modes

When sending MMS, you can choose between two delivery modes:

ModeDescriptionBest For
FasterStandard processing — optimized for speedMost messages; time-sensitive sends
Higher QualityPreserves original media quality; slightly longer processingProfessional images, marketing materials

Select the delivery mode in the compose area before sending. The mode applies to that message only.

Delivery mode is a per-message setting. You can send some messages as Faster and others as Higher Quality depending on your needs.

Receiving MMS

When someone sends you an MMS:

  • Media attachments appear inline in the conversation thread
  • Images display as thumbnails you can click to expand
  • Other file types show as downloadable attachments
  • Inbound MMS is processed via the QuestBlue webhook automatically

Tips

  • Compress before uploading — Resize large images and trim videos to stay within the 5 MB limit and improve delivery
  • Use JPEG for photos — JPEG offers the best balance of quality and file size for photographic content
  • Use PDF for documents — Send invoices, flyers, or forms as PDF attachments
  • Test across carriers — MMS rendering varies by carrier and device; test with a few numbers before sending to large audiences
